Chromecast Error Untrusted Device - Cast socket status code 2280
An error message on Chromecast devices began to appear in the early afternoon of this Sunday, March 9, 2025, around the world, at least according to several web users.
Well, here I have a Chromecast NC2 6A5 (Chromecast 2nd generation), which in the early afternoon of this Sunday, March 9, 2025, gave an error in the connection, this was around 2 pm.
NOTE: In the morning around 11:00 am, everything was working normally.
Apparently, it seemed like an internet error or Wi-Fi network error, however, later, I tried again with another device to mirror on Chromecast, play videos from YouTube and streaming platforms and it gave an error.
Another error message appeared when trying to connect to Globoplay, an error message Cast socket status code 2280. The error message on YouTube was the following: Untrusted device. Unable to verify CHROMECASTNAME. Device firmware may be out of date. Close
In some web forums, you can see that several posts about the error have been appearing early this Sunday afternoon, also involving the connection of the 2nd generation Chromecast. We know that Google would no longer support the old Chromecast at least, but we still don't know if the Chromecast stopped working today for this reason. It may just be a temporary error with the Chromecast. We hope so.
